History of Technical Commercial Exams08

A short history of the development of technical and commercial examinations in Englandover the past two centuries, together with some personal observations and asides to a number of the issues covered. As author Dick Evans says in his Preface: “Inevitably, in an exploration of this kind, may parallels between the past and present days suggest themselves. It is impossible to resist the pull that the past has over the present.”

History of Technical Education v2

Regular T Mag contributor Dick Evans provides an in-depth historical perspective on technical education, from its origins in the Middle Ages to the latest developments in the present day. As Dick says in his introduction the history - in 12 chapters with a chronology at the end - will provide 'a host of insights into this country's current struggle to confront and tackle skills shortages and our ability to respond to and compete with the emerging global economies. It will also provide pointers to the lessons and strategies for technical education aimed at industrial growth which have been spelt out over the last 200+ years but which successive governments and educationalists have continued to neglect or discard.'
